WineGB has released its Golden 50 Wine List for 2025, celebrating the top UK wines that achieved gold medals in ten national and international competitions. The initiative, now in its second year, was launched in partnership with the Vineyard & Winery Show. The list showcases 50 award-winning wines, 34 sparkling and 16 still, from across England and Wales, reflecting a particularly strong year for British wine. Notably, 2025 saw the first wine to achieve 99 points at the WineGB Awards and an English wine winning the prestigious International Wine Challenge Champion Sparkling Trophy.
The wines were selected from 105 gold medal recipients in the WineGB Awards, Decanter World Wine Awards, International Wine Challenge (IWC), International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), Champagne and Sparkling Wine World Championships, Global Wine Masters, Sommelier Wine Awards, London Wine Competition, Sommeliers Choice Awards, and the London Wine Fair’s Battle of the Bubbles.
Seventeen producers earned golds across multiple competitions. Gusbourne (Kent) led with 11 golds, followed by Chapel Down (Kent), Langham (Dorset), Nyetimber (West Sussex), Balfour (Kent), Harrow & Hope (Buckinghamshire), and Sugrue South Downs (West Sussex). Eleven wines won multiple gold medals, including All Angels Ten Year Anniversary Classic Cuvée 2014, Chapel Down Kits Coty Coeur de Cuvée 2016, Gusbourne Estate Blanc de Noirs 2020, and Sugrue South Downs The Trouble with Dreams Magnum 2009.
The full Golden 50 list will be available for tasting at the Vineyard & Winery Show on 19 November 2025 at the Kent County Showground.
