JP Chenet Colombard Sauvignon comes from South-Western France, with a fairly gentle 11% alcohol, from the 2025 vintage. The 3l box is the equivalent of four bottles, in a fridge-friendly format.
When it is properly cold, this is really citrusy, almost like a citrus wine, both in the aromatics and, even more so, in the taste. Give it a little time to warm up and it softens nicely, bringing in pear, a bit more sweetness, better length, and a slight tropical twist.
It is medium sweet, and for me that means the first taste is great, bright, easy and very enjoyable, but, as with many sweeter wines, it becomes a little less appealing the more I drink. That is very much a personal thing though. Anyone who likes sweeter wines probably will not have that issue at all.
One small thing with wine boxes, getting the temperature right can be a bit awkward. With a bottle, you can just take it out of the fridge 20 minutes before drinking, but a box has much more wine in it, so it warms up far more slowly. Since it will usually live in the fridge, the easiest fix is to let it warm a little in the glass.
