Château des Jaume ‘Infusion’

Posted by

Château des Jaume Côtes du Roussillon Villages ‘Infusion’ is a wine from one of the renowned estates of the Roussillon region in France. Located near the village of Tautavel, the vineyard sits between the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees mountains, producing wines that reflect this unique terroir. This 2022 vintage comes in at 14% ABV and showcases a natural approach to winemaking, with whole bunch vinification, minimal intervention and no added sulphites.

Made from a blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan, this wine pours a light red raspberry colour and opens beautifully aromatic with notes of herby, cherry fruit. There’s no need to decant or allow it to breathe, it’s ready to enjoy from the first pour.

The taste is round and easy-drinking, yet intriguingly different. The flavour is gentle but full, probably due to the higher alcohol, carrying a cherry liqueur character without the sweetness, again underscored by a subtle herbal nuance. It offers a fresh, fruity sensation that’s difficult to pin down, though the closest comparison might be a good Fleurie.

Best served as an aperitif, this wine also pairs wonderfully with mixed salads, grilled meats or even chocolate. It’s a unique and compelling bottle, and at £13.99 from Baythorne Wines, it represents exceptional value for a French wine of this style and quality.
