On the first day of April 2026, I attended Lidl’s Spring/Summer press tasting in London, where around 50 wines were showcased from the retailer’s current April, forthcoming May and June releases, along with a small preview of its July Wine Tour. A number of bottles from Lidl’s core range, available year-round, were also available to try.
Lidl’s Wine Tours typically last for around two months, giving shoppers a limited opportunity to buy these bottles before they disappear from the shelves. The most popular wines often sell out quickly, which is very much part of Lidl’s approach, keeping the range dynamic, encouraging customers to return regularly and creating a sense of discovery.
That constant rotation not only keeps things fresh for shoppers eager to try something new, but also helps Lidl track which styles and regions resonate most strongly with its customers. In some cases, the popular wines even make the jump into the permanent core range.
These were the wines that caught my attention the most:

Chateau Dereszla Tokaji Amethyst Prémium Furmint 2024 12.5% £8.99
A pale lemon Furmint from Hungary shows aromas of green apple, pear and quince. The wine is light to medium in body, medium dry in style and rich with a mineral-driven edge. Orchard fruit and pear run through the taste, then a honeyed finish lingers. The sweetness is noticeable without being excessive and it went well with the Lidl-supplied lunch food. This 2024 vintage appeared in the April Wine Tour and is in store now.
Confidence de Gascogne Colombard Sauvignon 2024 11% TBA
A dry white from Côtes de Gascogne in France, made from Colombard and Sauvignon. Tropical fruit, lime and pear come first with the very expressive aroma, then grapefruit, pineapple and citrus take over on the taste. There is a round mouthfeel here and a tangy, fresh finish. It is due in the July Wine Tour and will be available at the end of June.
Riesling Piesporter Michelsberg 2025 10.5% £4.99
This Mosel Riesling is pale lemon in colour, with lime, green apple and white flowers on the aroma. The taste is off-dry, bringing citrus and green fruit balanced enough acidity, so it stays fresh and not too sweet. Lower alcohol adds to the appeal. Excellent value and part of the core line.
Exquiste Rosé Prestige 2025 12.5% £7.99
Pays d’Oc in France is the home of this Grenache rosé. It is very pale salmon, almost clear, with aromas of redcurrant, strawberry, citrus zest and herbs. On the taste, red fruit and citrus come through with impressive depth of fruit and the finish is off-dry. The flavour is excellent for the price. This is a core line wine.
Breath of Paradise Rosé 2025 12.5% £10.99
Pale salmon in the glass, this Provence rosé is extremely aromatic with redcurrant, strawberry, citrus zest and herbs. Red fruit and citrus carry through on the taste, backed by high acidity and a dry style. The finish is clean, light and refreshing. I suspect the name is a play on Whispering Angel. The intensity impressively cut through the lunch food provided. Very good value for a tasty Côtes de Provence rosé.
5 Oros Rioja Crianza 2020 14% £7.99
Made by Bodegas Isidro Milagro in Spain, this Rioja Crianza blends Tempranillo, Garnacha and Graciano. The colour is slightly browning, while the aroma is intense with red cherry, strawberry, vanilla, dill and lots of oak. It is dry and medium-bodied, with balanced red fruit and a high degree of oak. Medium tannins give a little more grip than usual for supermarket Crianza and the finish is medium to long. It comes across more like a Reserva and the price is excellent for this level of entertainment. This wine is in the June Wine Tour and will be available at the end of May.
Almocreve 2022 13.5% £6.99
Alentejo in Portugal is where this red comes from. Again, slight browning in colour, it is very aromatic with blackberry, plum, a touch of caramel and dried herbs. Ripe dark fruit leads the taste, supported by a soft structure and warm spice. The tannins sit between low and medium, there is a slight off-dry sweetness and the end has a gentle oaky/caramel note. It arrives at the end of May for the June Wine Tour.
Deluxe Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2025 13.5% £6.99
Deep ruby in colour, this Cabernet Sauvignon opens with blackcurrant, mint, eucalypt, cedar and leather aromas. Cassis leads the taste, with a minty lift and firm structure. It is dry, medium to full in body, with low to medium tannins. I mentioned this wine previously as the 2024 vintage, but I could not find that exact year in the shops, so I asked Lidl if they could show the newer vintage this time. Where the previous 2024 bottle had a long, cedary finish, this 2025 feels fresher. Core line.
One thing to keep in mind is that availability does not always follow the published schedule. Last year, some wines appeared in store earlier than expected and did not always align neatly with the planned Wine Tours. Prices, too, are provisional at this stage and may change. It is also worth checking vintages carefully, as the bottles on shelves are not always the same vintages as those I tried at the tasting.
