Emma Marris Sauvignon Blanc

Posted by

Emma Marris, eldest daughter of Brent Marris, the winemaker behind the best-selling Sauvignon Blanc, The Ned, is now making her own mark in the world of wine. Having spent her life immersed in viticulture, Emma fine-tuned her expertise studying at Roseworthy College near Adelaide, and has since stepped into the role of Production Winemaker.

This Sauvignon Blanc comes from a single vineyard, Leefield Station Vineyard, and is certified vegan, carrying the Appellation Marlborough Wine (AMW) accreditation. It already has impressive recognition, achieving a high rating of 3.9 on Vivino.

At first glance, the wine is remarkably clear, almost water-like in appearance, a deceptively subtle visual introduction to its robust character. The aroma, however, is intense and vibrant, with distinct notes of lime, crisp apple and exotic papaya. On the palate, this intensity continues but diverges from the typical musky or muddled flavour found in many intense Sauvignon Blancs. Instead, Emma’s wine offers a crisp, tart and refreshingly saline quality. The label intriguingly references ‘Yuzu’, a citrus fruit from East Asia with a distinctive profile combining intense tartness, bitterness and a small touch sweetness, reminiscent of lemon, lime, grapefruit and floral herbal undertones. This description captures perfectly the unique personality of this wine.

At just £9.99 when purchasing any six bottles from Majestic, this more artisan, single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc represents exceptional value, providing an accessible entry into non-mass-produced winemaking.
