London, August 13, 2023: A London Overground train was transformed into an impromptu stage as a man, dressed in a sharp blazer, shirt, and a smart cap, serenaded a fellow passenger. The scene was made even more surreal as George Michael’s hit “Careless Whisperer” played in the background, turning the usually mundane journey into a bizarre romantic escapade.
The man, later identified as notorious YouTube prankster Elvin Mensah, had passengers in fits of laughter as he drank wine and tucked into a massive chocolate cake. A pristine white sheet covered the table, adorned with a vase of roses and a candle, setting the mood for his unexpected performance. The woman seated next to him, presumably his ‘date’ for the evening, couldn’t help but chuckle, albeit with a hint of embarrassment, as he entertained the carriage.
However, there was a quirky twist to his ensemble. In stark contrast to his otherwise dapper appearance, Mensah sported a pair of yellow rubber gloves, adding to the comedic element of the scene.
This isn’t the first time Mensah has pulled off such a stunt. He’s known for his ‘dates on a train’ series on YouTube. In previous episodes, he’s attempted to share wine and an oversized croissant with an unsuspecting passenger. In October 2020, he even staged an elaborate wedding on the Elizabeth line.
These shenanigans took place around 8 pm between Stratford and Homerton. But as the train approached Hackney Central, the romantic rendezvous came to an end. Mensah generously offered slices of the cake to fellow passengers, ensuring they had a sweet memory of their entertaining journey across East London.
