The site you are on now, Wine Drinker, is mainly centred around the taste and enjoyment of wine. I share news, reviews, thoughts from tastings as well as my favourite picks, emphasising those wines that I think offer the best value for money.
I have also been thinking about the price data behind UK wine and how to find new wines. This has inspired the creation of a new second, totally separate site, Wine Pick. Unlike Wine Drinker, Wine Pick is only focused on price and data. It’s designed to help discover the best wine offers, some of which are fleeting and can be easily missed.
Wine Pick is currently tracking wines across the top eight supermarkets, as these are where the majority of wine purchases take place. However, there’s the possibility to expand into more specialist stores in the future. It’s all experimental at the moment to see what’s possible and gauge whether worthwhile.
Early every morning, the Wine Pick site is updated with the Top 50 wine offers by percentage saving, as well as the Top 50 newly listed wines. To enhance the experience, I’ve also introduced suggested, popular, wine ‘tips’.
In addition to the website, daily tips are shared on Instagram. For those in the wine trade, specifically retailers and brands, there’s an experimental SuperUser facility available for viewing thousands of wines.
