
The winners of this year’s Wine Merchant Top 100 have been revealed. These represent the top 10% from nearly 1,000 wines assessed during a rigorous day of judging in April, involving 36 independent wine merchants.
Further details about why each wine was chosen will be shared in a special supplement due out in July, which will also highlight the highly commended entries.
In the Sparkling Wine category, the top honour went to Grande Réserve, Premier Cru, Pierre Mignon, Champagne, France NV (£35.74, Alliance Wine), while the best value sparkling wine was Llopart Corpinnat Brut Panoramic, Penedès 2018 (£26.75, Hallgarten & Novum Wines).
For White Wine, the trophy was awarded to Domaine Belleville Rully La Crée 2022 (£36.50, Vindependents), and the best value recognition went to Mauricio Lorca Calma Indómita Albarin 2023 (£17.75, Ucopia Wines).
In the Rosé Wine category, the top wine was Xinomavro/Limniona, Apla Rosé, Oenops 2024 (£17.49, Hallgarten & Novum Wines), while Terras Lusas Rosé, Vinho Regional Alentejano, Adega de Redondo 2023 (£11.74, Alliance Wine) was named the best value option.
Among the Red Wines, the trophy went to Ver Sacrum Gloria S Garnacha 2021 (£31.75, Ucopia Wines), and the best value accolade was given to Bodegas Agronavarra Perdido Tempranillo, Vino de la Tierra 3 Riberas 2023 (£10.49, Cachet Wine).
In the Fortified and Sweet Wine category, the top spot was claimed by Valdespino Premium Collection Palo Cortado Single Cask Macharnudo Alto 2001 (£150, Liberty Wines), while the best value sweet wine was Royal Tokaji Sweet Szamorodni 2019 (£21.99, Fells).
