Not to be accused of only posting positive reviews, here’s an exception that left me rather disappointed. This particular bottle had previously received a high score of 95 from Decanter, a DDWA gold medal and also a 3.7 rating on Vivino.

Made from the Cinsault grape, it’s meant to be a lighter wine, akin to Pinot Noir, with notes of oak, raspberry and spice.

However, my experience was far from the accolades it had received. The wine had an overpowering taste of cabbage and rubber, leading me to believe it’s a reductive wine. It’s the worst wine I’ve had in a long while, and had I kept the receipt, I would have certainly taken it back.

Purchased from Waitrose for £10.99, it’s currently unavailable online. I can’t help but wonder if this is due to a bad batch.
